Disney World has truly rekindled awe into Eric and I that I think we sometimes lose as adults that are busy with life, family, work, the economy, and so on and so on, blah, blah, blah, boring details. It is truly a magical experience to come to Disney with children who are bright-eyed and amazed by characters, 3-D effects, fantasy, and imagery. (Ok.........and the typical knick-knacks.)
Our trip got off to an excellent start when the driver who was supposed to pick us up at the airport in a car showed up in a beautiful stretch limo. Thank you Happy Limousine service and Mr. Gary our driver. Mr. Gary had a kids movie in the DVD waiting for us to get in. Wow, super customer service. Then when we got to the Swan Hotel we were immediately upgraded to a suite instead of a regular room. When is this dream going to end?
We, like probably most parents, thought we might be asking quite a lot from the kids to make it at Disney for five days, but hey, three days down and they seem to be doing as well as us, if not better. I got two large blisters on day 2.
Before making the trip here I thoroughly researched tandem strollers thinking that the kids would need a break and we'd also be able to travel through the park faster if we didn't have to wait for Anna's little legs. Well, I never could find a stroller big enough for the likes of Luke, that would not make him feel like a baby, and so we skipped the purchase and I'm very happy to report we didn't need one. Our kids are troopers.
Day one we spent 7 hours at the Magic Kingdom with both kids walking and temperatures hitting record highs (we've been told the heat index was 115). Mr. Walt Disney was brilliant when designing his parks because there are so many trees, mist fans, and inside activities that you can mix up the with the outside activities thus allowing us to actually survive, and survive very well.
I'm guessing part of the reason we survived is also attributed to the fact that we got to the park an hour before the park opened for regular customers so we didn't have to wait in any lines longer than 15-20 minutes, and most were 5 minute waits.
Day 2 was Animal Kingdom and it too went better than expected as well. We vowed to make it a shorter day, but lasted for a full 10 hours. What can I say, we're a fun-loving crowd. The kids were perfect and so we made the most of it. Once again, arriving earlier than the regular crowd was a life saver. The Lion King theatrical presentation was our favorite activity and we'd go back to the park just to catch another showing.
Day 3 back to the Magic Kingdom for another 6 hours so Anna could get a pretty good dose of pictures with her favorite characters while Eric and Luke enjoyed Splash Mountain for the second time. The Celebration parade had us all dancing in the street with Mickey, Goofy, and the rest of the Disney gang. Anna was shaking her booty like no other and Goofy looked at her and then put his hands over his heart and blew her a kiss. She's a show-stopper. We left the park and headed back to the swimming pool for a three hour soak, had a nice dinner and then poured the kids in bed. Tomorrow it's off to Hollywood Studios. Woo hoo.
I'll have to upload photos when we get home. Eric is begging me to come to bed so we can get another early start in the morning.
